The Winter solstice was yesterday, and the shortest day of the year is now past. Even tho its still going to be cold for a while yet, the days will now start to get longer and longer, and gradually things will warm up and soon it will be Summer again! I know I shouldn’t live for Summer, and I’ve been good at keeping warm so far this Winter, but I really cant wait to get back out into the sun again!

And here I am, enjoying the summer solstice, but dreading the coming heat of our summer and looking forward to escaping it with my antipodean visit!

Funny to read that - it’s the longest day of the year here, which Sam takes quite personally, as it is the day before his birthday…

Funny - my dad’s birthday is the 20th, so he also takes the solstice quite personally.
And every year he says the same thing:
‘Oh, the nights are drwking in.  Winter’s coming!’
Then the rest of the family protests and says that summer hasn’t even hit us yet…

He did it again on Saturday…
