Core from which flakes have been struck, WA, Mt. Ridley National Park.

It finally seems safe to say that I am about to start a new job. I have resigned from my current job and only have one week to go. The new job is in the archaeology field; out in the field as an assistant to a junior archaeologist, working on a salvage operation ahead of mining development. The job entails working a few weeks away at a time and then back in town for blocks in between. The finer details are sketchy at this point - the start date is still shifting around and has recently (no promises) come forward to July 1st. The pay is good, but the experience is worth a lot too, and will lead to more lucrative positions in the future. Can’t wait for the new phase to start! I have a whole new wardrobe of Mongrel boots, King Gee pants and R. M. Williams shirts, plus a hat Auntie Sandy gave me. Yeeeehar!

*jumping up and down* yay yay yay! You have an archeologist’s hat!

I looked and looked in the store for the Lara Croft type workwear, but there was nothing. I had to settle for the Indiana Jones version. Photos of me in full kit coming, er, maybe one day.

Indiana Jones over Lara Croft anyday. Rugged sexiness. Yum. xo

You have had a thing for the Lara Croft look for years.

You could pull off the outfit easily and you already have the hair for it.

But you would rock the Indiana Jones look too.

Hey - how about some Japanese construction workers clothes…  that would be a different look too.

Congrats on the job. Sounds way too hot and dusty for me.

Thanks for the good wishes gals. I would *love* to wear the Japanese construction pants. I have no doubt that I would not get away with it tho - Outback Australia is not the most open-minded place.

doesn’t mean you can’t open their minds!

I would have to see if they could be considered approved safety wear. The openmindedness issue relates both to the local’s attitudes as well as the Big Company OH&S narrowmindedness. In some places even the chefs have to wear full hi-vis safety workwear. Im not sure what the restrictions will be on me, so Im going for the narrow definition for the moment. We will see in the future… Im just waiting for the job to get approval to go ahead at this point - I suspect the changes in government have contributed to the delays.
